At SiriusXM, we want you to be 100% satisfied with your satellite radio experience-and proper installation is essential. If you are installing your Sirius or XM Satellite or Internet Radio yourself, please check out the appropriate section below for assistance with installation in your Vehicle or in your Home.

Installing your Radio in your vehicle involves two general steps:

First, refer to the Antenna Installation section to see step-by-step instructions for properly intalling the magnetic mount antenna for your specific vehicle type.

Second, refer to the audio section to learn how to connect your SiriusXM radio to your vehicle's audio system.

+ Step 2: Connecting the Audio

In order to listen to your Radio in your vehicle, you need to connect its audio to your vehicle's audio system.

For the best listening, we recommend direct audio connection using the Aux In Connection included in your vehicle kit.

There are two primary ways to connect the audio of your Radio to your vehicle's audio system:

Direct Audio Connection: Connect to and listen through your vehicle's stereo system using:

Aux In Connection (included in your Radio Vehicle Kit)

Below are tips to identify and correct some of the common signal and audio reception problems you may encounter.

Please note, messages displayed on your SiriusXM radio screen may vary slightly from what's noted below. Additional troubleshooting tips specific to your SiriusXM radio can be found in your SiriusXM radio's user manual.

+ Radio displays "CHECK ANTENNA" or "CHECK ANTENNA CONNECTION" or "ANTENNA"

Possible cause #1: The antenna is not properly connected to the Radio or Vehicle Dock, or the connection has become loose.

Solution: Check the antenna connection to the Vehicle Dock and make sure it has a good, snug fit.

Possible cause #2: If the antenna is properly connected to the Vehicle Dock, there may be a break in the antenna cable, or a problem with the antenna.

Solution: Replace the Magnetic Mount Antenna

+ Radio displays "ANTENNA NOT DETECTED"

Possible cause #1: The antenna is not properly connected to the Radio or Vehicle Dock, or the connection has become loose.

Solution: Check the antenna connection to the Vehicle Dock and make sure it has a good, snug fit.

Possible cause #2: If the antenna is properly connected to the SIRIUS Radio or Vehicle Dock, there may be a break in the antenna cable, or a problem with the antenna.

Solution: Replace the Magnetic Mount Antenna.

+ Radio displays "ACQUIRING SIGNAL" or "NO SIGNAL"

Possible cause : The Magnetic Mount Antenna is not receiving a satellite signal.

Solution 1: Make sure the vehicle is outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

Solution 2: Make sure the antenna is mounted on the outside of the vehicle in an optimal location. (Follow the mounting tips described earlier for your vehicle type.)

Solution 3: Move the vehicle away from any obstructed area. For example, if you are parked in an underground garage, you should receive a signal after leaving the garage

+ There is static or loss of clarity in the Radio's audio

Possible cause 1: If you have connected the audio of your Radio to your vehicle's FM radio using the FM transmitter, the FM channel you have selected is most likely being used by an FM radio station. This interferes with the audio of the Radio.

Solution:You'll need to find an available FM channel. An available FM channel is one that's not being used by an FM radio station in your area. When you tune your FM radio to an available channel, you should only hear static or silence - not talk or music. We recommend one of the following methods to find an available FM channel:

TIP Use the SiriusXM FM Channel Finder at www.siriusxm.com/fmchannel. Go to the website and enter your zip code. The Channel Finder will suggest a list of available FM channels in your area. For convenience, write down or print out the list.

OR

Manually tune through your local FM channels on your vehicle's FM radio. Locate and create a list of channels that aren't being used by any FM radio station. Write down the list. Once you have created your list of available FM channels, you will need to find the one that provides the best match for your XM Radio.

TIP You'll need to use the 'Manual' tune function on your vehicle's FM radio to tune through every FM channel one-by-one. Turn on your vehicle's FM radio. Start at 88.1 and use the 'Manual' tune function on your vehicle's FM radio to tune through each FM channel one-by-one (88.1 followed by 88.3 etc.) to locate channels that aren't being used by a local FM radio station. Write down each FM channel that has only static or silence on it, until you reach 107.9, which is the highest FM channel on the vehicle FM radio.

Pick the first FM channel from your list. Turn on your vehicle's FM radio (if you have not already done so) and tune it to this FM channel.

Turn on your Radio and then set it to transmit on the same FM channel as your vehicle's FM radio. Refer to your Radio's User Guide for detailed instructions on how to do this.

Possible cause 2: If you have connected the audio of your Radio directly to your vehicle's stereo system using the AUX or AUX IN, or LINE IN jack, the Aux In Cable may not be properly connected.

Solution: Make sure the Aux In Cable is properly connected; one end to the AUX or AUX IN, or LINE IN jack on your vehicle's stereo system, and the other end to the "AUDIO" or "AUDIO OUT" connector on your XM Radio or Vehicle Dock.

Possible cause 3:If you have connected the audio of your Radio directly to your vehicle's stereo system using the AUX or AUX IN, or LINE IN jack, you may not have selected the proper input source on your vehicle's stereo system.

Solution:Set your vehicle's stereo system to play input from the auxiliary input source.

+ No Signal or Acquiring Signal

Make sure the SiriusXM antenna is mounted on the outside of the vehicle and that there are no obstructions blocking its view. If you are parked in an underground garage, you should receive a signal after leaving the garage.

+ Antenna or Antenna Not Detected

Make sure the SiriusXM antenna cable is firmly and securely plugged into the cradle. Make sure the SiriusXM antenna cable is not bent or broken. Turn your SiriusXM radio off, then on, to reset this message. If using a Dock & Play or Portable Radio, remove the Radio from its docking cradle and then reinstall to attempt to reset this message.

+ Off Air

The channel you've selected is not currently broadcasting. Tune to another channel.

+ Loading

Your SiriusXM radio is acquiring audio or program information from the satellite. This message usually goes away in a few seconds.

+ Updating

SiriusXM is updating your Radio with the latest encryption code. Wait until the update is complete. This message may also display when you are trying to tune to a channel that is unavailable or blocked.

+ No audio when listening through an FM radio

Check to make sure your XM radio and your car radio are tuned to the same FM frequency.

+ No Audio using Aux Cable

Make sure all of the cables between your SiriusXM radio and your stereo system are connected firmly and securely. Make sure the FM mode in the SiriusXM Radio is turned Off. Make sure host radio is on auxiliary input mode.

+ Audio fades or has static when listening

Check to make sure all cables are connected firmly and securely. If the problem persists, it may be interference from another FM channel. Refer to the "Find an FM Frequency" section in your SiriusXM radio's user guide. Find the best FM channel for your area here: www.siriusxm.com/fmchannel.

+ Audio sounds too soft

Raise or lower the FM audio level until the sound quality improves. Refer to the "Setting the Line Out Level" section in your SiriusXM radio's user guide.

+ Instant Traffic and Weather channels sound different from other XM channels

These channels use a different audio technology than the other XM channels so they often sound different than other XM channels.

+ No song title or artist name is displayed

The information may not be available or updates may be in progress.

+ Your SiriusXM radio turns off unexpectedly

If your radio has a sleep timer, and it is set, your SiriusXM radio will turn off after the selected length of time. Turn off the Sleep Timer feature.

<p class="audio-connection-option-text audio-connection-option-text-repeating"> If your vehicle's stereo system has an auxiliary input (Aux In) connection or jack, the Aux In Cable solution provides the best audio quality.
